Venison....

Tyler has really developed his hunting/shooting skills. He shot a deer on Wednesday night after school, and again tonight after school. We have ag tags because of crop damage that the DNR requires us to fill by mid September. At the rate Tyler is going he will be able to shoot them all himself in the future. We will not go hungry around here! Good thing we all like venison.

He is really hoping that some of the bucks he has seen will stroll past when season opens!

I got to go watch the JH Football team play last night, poor kids lost 48-0. Our team is so small, both in numbers and size, compared to the teams that they compete with. We have 13 kids on the team, and one of them has been sidelined for academic reasons for a couple of games. When the other team switches out the whole field, we can rest one boy:( They do get alot of practise, but man are they tired.

Well, guess I better go, I need to plan my new catalog open house!

Changing the routine

We NEED to change our routine! Early to bed, early to rise! Thats what we need.....instead we've been working on no sleep, get done late, eat, watch a little tv and its already 11 or later! Garry got up today, and left, while I slipped into a deep sleep. Woke again at 8....Tyler needs to be at football by 8:30! And, my calves should have been fed before I took him. He got there on time :), calves ate late:(.

Keep saying that everyone will be in bed by 10 so we can all wake up BY 7. Maybe tonight.

We did have French Toast for supper last night. YUMMY! A case of, I forgot to thaw anything, so thats what we had instead. Worked out ok.

Well, gotta go. Apparently we need baler parts and I've been elected to go to Rice Lake. Yeah....not.

Dissappointment...

Well, I didn't get to meet up with my friend. She was busy, and we didn't connect until it was too late. But, that will motivate me, hopefully, to make and plan, time for friends! My other BFF from school, has Wednesdays off, so when school starts I'll need to start planning girl time with her.

Great News

We had Katie up to see her ortho Dr in Duluth yesterday. He said even though there is a VERY gentle curve in Katie's back, it is not even worth worrying about. Scoliosis does run in my hubby's family though, so he said we can bring her back in the spring just for monitoring. Until then we have her continue with her physical therapy exercises. Insurance will pay for 6 more visits, I hope to draw them out as long as possible to use that as a backup to be sure she continues doing the exercises and continues to get stronger. Tuesday at therapy was the first time she reported not having any pain for a couple days!

Hoping to get together with a friend from school sometime today, she is visiting from PA. Although she has only lived there for a month. I am terrible at not making time for ME, and friends a priority. Before that she lived here, within 20 miles of us, and we haven't even talked on the phone, or visited in......at least 10 years. Found each other again on facebook, and hope to keep in touch now!

Well, I better go! Kids just came in.

Getting ready for the fair.........For the kids this means lots of time with a very large animal on a rope! Need to have these big boys ready to be on their best behavior at the fair.

Trying to get enough laundry done to have the family clothed properly during the 4 days of the fair. Course, first you have to get everyone to get their laundry to the laundry area! It would be nice to be ahead on housework so when we come home late at night, the house still looks decent.
Thats all for now!

Maybe some day I'll get on a steady schedule! Been very busy, horse classes, lots of calves, hauling chopper boxes, trying to keep up with the laundry, and the house. Getting lots of rain so far this month.... Have to start a tracker on here! Also going to try a book list as a side bar of books read.

Busy, busy, busy

This has been a busy month! Lots of stuff, good and not so. When a family works together, it can lead to some disagreements. We've had our share at different times. Oh well, we work through them and go on. Just makes life and work difficult for awhile.

Lost a cow this week, one of my maternity (dry) cows. She was just found dead in the morning. Apparently she ruptured a blood vessel and bled out internally. Very strange thing. Of course she had a heifer inside that we lost with her.

Getting to do some riding. Rode Betsy yesterday, she had lots of energy. Although she spent most of it trying to get back home! Sore seat bones today. Then today I went and rode Eagle with Danielle. I think he is going to come back to us. She bought a different horse and can only keep one where they are. We (Danielle and I) have to much time, energy and $$ invested in him to let him go as cheaply as the market dictates now. He was very good, but has alot of energy. We had some differences of opinion on who decided which way we would go. He finally conceded. A scary couple of seconds when my boot scraped the wall of the arena. He spooked, but really only jumped a step or two. Lots more muscle work making him work though, than just riding Betsy. Think I'll have sore thighs tomorrow!

Well, time to get to bed!

Time for an update?!

Well, its only been a year since I posted last! Have to do better at that now.

Today I hosted a meeting of the Clam River Tuesday Club at our house. Lots of time cleaning, and it still was not as clean as I would have liked, but you have to let it go sometimes. Garry and Pat got alot of landscaping done last night to make the yard look nice. Will post photos soon.

I have spent lots of time watching Lily and Hope at bear.org. They have left the den now, so not much to watch, just check the daily updates on Facebook about them and the bear research. We got to see a bear cub up close this past week. Actually 2 of them. A family friend does wildlife rehab and got a cub that had been without mom for at least 3 days, probably more. Then a couple days later a neighboring farm had called, they had a cub that wandered their farm for 2 days without mom. I transported her to the local friend, and we got some photos of the baby with Katie and I. Need to post some of those pics too!

Kids are looking forward to the Midwest Horse Fair in Madison. Well.... I guess I'm looking forward to it to! It is really our only vacation that we take from the farm.

I hope to keep up here a little better, wouldn't take much to be better than yearly!
